First Man on the Moon stamp 1969
The first US stamp to depict the Stars and Stripes on the moon was the 10c airmail stamp (Scott C76) issued on September 9, 1969, to commemorate the successful moon landing of Apollo 11 and crew Neil Armstrong, Col. Edwin “Buzz” Aldrin Jr., and Lt.Col. Michael Collins.

The 2c “Battle of White Plains” stamp featuring Alexander Hamilton’s Battery.

This stamp was issued in 1952 to commemorate the 200th birthday of Betsy Ross. Unless more documentation is found, the debate about who constructed the “first” flag will continue.
Was it Betsy Ross? Francis Hopkinson? Mr. Hopkinson has official federal records on his side, and Ms. Ross has more than 200 years of anecdotal history [...]
