The flags from left to right are Great Britain, Belgium, United States, Italy, and France. Issued on March 3, 1919, the violet, three-cent stamp can be bought today from two dollars to thousands of dollars, depending on quality, condition, and the shade of ink—with deep red violet being most highly prized.
